Experience the Liberation of Provence in summer 1944. Take a countdown to D-Day and plunge into the heart of operations. Multimedia documents and the Faron setting help you understand the strategic importance of this site, which dominates the Var coast.

Its modern scenography and multimedia supports highlight the commitment of General de Lattre de Tassigny's army and all those who contributed to the liberation of France.
Located at the summit of Mount Faron, the site offers an exceptional panorama of the Var coastline.

Weather conditions:

  • If you take the cable car to visit the memorial, please note: the cable car can be closed in case of a large wind (contact reception cable car: 04 94 92 68 25).
  • From June to September, access to the Var massifs can be closed for Fire risk. In this case, access to the Faron is prohibited.

Access conditions
  • Access by bike

    The memorial is located at the top of Mount Faron at an altitude of approximately 384 metres. The road, one way, to access it is winding and rather dizzying.

  • Access by bus

    If you want to come by bus to the memorial, make sure the cable car works on that day. The bus takes you down Mount Faron, near the departure station of the cable car. No bus goes up to the top.
    Borrow it line 40 until the cable stop.

  • Access by car

    By car from the city centre, follow the direction "Toulon north – Mount Faron" and then "Télépherique – Mémorial" by a winding road (and dizzying!) in a single direction (mounted by the west, descent by the east).

  • Motor disability

    Elevator to access the cable car departure station. Elevator inside the station to exit to the outside (Route du Faron side). 2 accessible platforms with panoramic views, to the east and west (over 150 m² of terraces created); these terraces are "level" and accessible without an elevator. 1 PRM parking space in the upper station, and a PRM path from the parking space to the terraces via the elevator (requires the aerial tramway to be in operation). Bus access not recommended, stop not adapted.
